Constructed in 1913 by order of the Federal Confectioneries Act, the Strategic Cake Reserve is an underground repository of emergency cake, designed to provide economic stability in times of war or extreme national financial duress. The reserve currently holds 180 cakes, with additional capacity possible, depending on GDP and inflation. Distribution of reserve cake shall only be mobilized by authorization of Congress, which is then signed by the president.
The Strategic Cake Reserve is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 10AM - 6PM, excluding holidays. Large groups and school tours are encouraged to call ahead.
